Street Racing Accident: Teen Crashes Car into Garage in DUI-Related Accident on Route 8

SANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a car crashed through a garage along Pittsburgh Road early Sunday morning on Route 8.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 3:14 a.m. on Sunday, September 30, a one-vehicle crash occurred on Pittsburgh Road (State Route 8) at its intersection with Garden Drive in Sandycreek Township, Venango County.

Police say a known 19-year-old Franklin man, who was operating a 2018 Subaru WRX, was racing another vehicle north on Route 8 when he left the right side of the roadway, striking a fence.

The vehicle then traveled approximately 63 feet off the roadway before crashing through a garage located along Route 8.

The vehicle came to a final rest inside the garage.

The teen was using a seat belt and was not injured.

He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. Charges are pending, awaiting lab results. The driver’s name will be released upon the return of BAC test results.

Polk Fire-Rescue, Sandycreek Township Volunteer Fire Department, Franklin Police Department, and Community Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Lowry’s Auto Body & Towing.
