Strong Second Quarter Helps Franklin Boys Beat Conneaut

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – Outscoring visiting Conneaut by seven in the second quarter, Franklin went on to beat the Eagles, 72-63, Saturday.

The Knights led by three, 16-13, after the first quarter but outscored Conneaut 18-11 in the second eight minutes to take a 34-24 halftime lead.

The Eagles tried to make things interested and closed within seven, 51-44, after a 20-point third quarter but Franklin was able to hold on for its fourth straight win to improve to 15-2.

Five Knights reached double figures led by 20 points from Easton Fulmer, who was 12 of 13 from the free-throw line. Dalton Buckley added 17 points, Ian Haynes had 13 points and Hayden Adams and Zak Smith each chipped in 11 points.

Tanner Niemann had a game-high 25 points for Conneaut with Cole Askey adding 17.

GIRLS

UNION CITY 35, ROCKY GROVE 24

UNION CITY, Pa. – Outscoring visiting Rocky Grove 13-4 in the second quarter, Union City pulled out a 35-24 win.

Rocky Grove led 7-6 going into the second quarter but couldn’t hang with the Bears before the halftime break.

Eliza Reynolds netted a game-high 17 points for Union City, while Amy Ruditis had 11 for Rocky Grove.
