OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — In a recent study published by New Pittsburgh Courier, Oil City ranked 15th in a list of Pennsylvania “Cities on the Rise.”

The study, conducted by NerdWallet, examined 88 Pennsylvania cities to compile a list of the communities that are growing the fastest and why following the Great Recession.

Factoring in growth in the working-age population, employment, and income from 2009 to 2012, NerdWallet created a composite growth metric for each city and determined the top 20 “cities on the rise” across the state.

Oil City ranked 15th in the study, with employment growth between 2009 and 2012 reaching 9.11% and an overall growth score of 44.47.
