SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) — Two Franklin men were arrested in Sugarcreek Borough early Friday morning.

Court documents indicate the Sugarcreek Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 18-year-old Justin Andrew Carney and 21-year-old Colin Austin Klinger, both of Franklin.

According to a criminal complaint, Lieutenant Baker was on patrol around 12:50 a.m. on Friday, March 9, when he noticed two sets of fresh footprints in the snow walking along Palmer Avenue. He followed the footprints up Murdock Street and noted that the footprints went to several vehicles parked in driveways and along the street and then turned and went up Prospect Avenue where they went to several more vehicles parked in driveways along the street.

Lieutenant Baker stopped two men on Palmer Avenue and questioned them about what they were doing so late at night.

Justin Carney said they were playing Pokémon. Lieutenant Baker then asked why they were going up to vehicles, and he noticed the two men getting nervous. Lieutenant Baker asked Carney for his Pokémon app, and Carney said that he would rather not show it to him. Lieutenant Baker then asked them both for ID, and they said they didn’t have any. Carney gave Lieutenant Baker his name and address, and Colin Klinger gave Lieutenant Baker a fictitious name, according to the complaint.

At that point, Officer Highfield arrived, and Lieutenant Baker apprised him of the situation.

Lieutenant Baker told Klinger and Carney they were under arrest, and Klinger turned and started to run. Officer Highfield caught him, and they both went to the ground. Klinger refused to give Officer Highfield his hands to be cuffed. After he was cuffed, Klinger stated he thought he had a warrant, the complaint states.

Carney and Klinger were arraigned at 4:05 a.m. on Friday, March 9, in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office.

Carney faces a third-degree misdemeanor charge of Loitering And Prowling At Night Time.

Unable to post $2,500.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

Klinger faces the following charges:

– Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
– False Identification To Law Enforcement Officer, Misdemeanor 3
– Loitering And Prowling At Night Time, Misdemeanor 3

Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, at Venango County Central Court.

Klinger has a criminal history of Theft, Stalking, Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and other charges.
