FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Police say a local man is facing charges following an incident where he allegedly slashed several motorcycle tires outside a local bar.

Around 1:10 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, Franklin Police were dispatched to a parking lot on Grant Street for a report of a fight in progress.

According to police, upon arrival the officers noted a large crowd in the parking lot. Patrolman Floor then approached the crowd and was advised that 21-year-old Darren Smith, of Sugarcreek, had a switchblade and had slashed three motorcycle tires. Smith was then pointed out to the officers.

When Patrolman Floor asked Smith if he had a knife, Smith admitted that he did. He was then searched and a black switchblade was located. Patrolman Floor then questioned Smith about why he slashed the tired, and Smith allegedly stated he was “helping a friend,” and then refused to answer further questions, according to police.

Smith was then arrested and transported to the Franklin Police Department.

Police say Smith is being charged with Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct, and Prohibited Offensive Weapons.
