OIL CITY, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project (PAADEEP) recognized six northwest Pennsylvania police officers for their efforts to reduce the number of aggressive driving crashes.

The officers were nominated by the police chiefs from their respective departments due to their participation in the 2017 aggressive driving enforcement and education initiative. They were recognized during a recent regional meeting for the program.
Honorees included the following officers:
- Patrolman Matthew Johnson, Sugarcreek Police Department, Venango County;
- Patrolman Joseph Highfield, Sugarcreek Police Department, Venango County.
- Sgt. Anthony Chimera, Millcreek Township Police Department, Erie County;
- Patrol Officer Jason Burnett, Hermitage Police Department, Mercer County;
- Patrol Officer Jeremy “Brad” Davis, Hermitage Police Department, Mercer County; and
- Patrol Officer Marc Frampton, Hermitage Police Department, Mercer County;
In 2016, there were 7,001 aggressive driving crashes in Pennsylvania. Aggressive driving behaviors include speeding, tailgating, failing to stop at red lights or stop signs, weaving through traffic, passing on the right, and failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
An aggressive driving enforcement and education wave is scheduled for March 19 to April 29, 2018. There will be 238 municipal police agencies and the Pennsylvania State Police participating, including police departments in Meadville, Crawford County; Erie and Millcreek Township, Erie County; Hermitage, Mercer County; Franklin, Sugarcreek and Oil City, Venango County; and Conewango Township and Warren, Warren County.
