Susan “Sue” (Hornbeck) Grampp

| February 21, 2019

The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind. Susan “Sue” (Hornbeck) Grampp, 65, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, February 14, 2019.

Sue was anything but ordinary and it showed in everything she touched – from her children’s names to their homemade Halloween costumes. She greeted everyone with a warm smile and a hug. Sue valued each and every friendship she had, and it showed in all of the long-lasting relationships she built with everyone. She showed us the importance of slowing down and enjoying the moment whether it be a car ride with good music or an overdue phone call.  Sue was kind and funny, brightening every conversation with her keen sense of humor and sharp wit.

A native of Rocky Grove, Sue attended Rocky Grove High School until her senior year, when she attended and graduated from Clarion Limestone, class of 1972.  She was a loyal employee of 30+ years as a part of senior management at a local manufacturing company before retiring and since then filled her days by cooking, baking (the BEST peanut butter fudge), sewing and knitting.

She was the most amazing “Bunny” to her granddaughter Remi, who was the apple of her eye.

There will never be a shortage of wonderful memories and stories to share with Remi to keep Sue’s spirit alive.

Sue was preceded in death by her son, McGee Grampp, her parents Robert Hornbeck and Lorraine Rossey and her brother, Robert Hornbeck. She is survived by her daughter Jaffee (Jolley) Donaldson, son-in-law Don, granddaughter Remi, and two sisters, Deborah Hornbeck and Elizabeth (Hornbeck) Winget and husband Steve. Sue is also survived by many nephews and nieces, countless lifelong friends and her beloved dog and trusty companion, Izzy.

To honor Sue’s love of all creatures, please consider making a donation to the Venango County Human Society and continue to honor her every day by loving graciously and finding the good in each other.

In the coming weeks, a celebration of Sue’s life will be held where family and friends will raise a glass (preferably a Bloody Mary, Sue’s favorite) in her honor.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.
