PIKE COUNTY, Pa. — A suspect has been identified in the Friday night ambush of two Pennsylvania State Police Officers at Blooming Grove police barracks, leaving one trooper dead, another critically wounded.

Pennsylvania State Police have identified the suspect as 31-year-old Eric Matthew Frein, of Monroe County, an anti-cop “survivalist.

“He is at large, and he is considered armed and extremely dangerous,” according to Commissioner Frank Noonan.

“He has been described as a survivalist…He has made statements about wanting to kill law enforcement officers and also about wanting to commit mass acts of murder.”

Police say they found Frein’s vehicle, along with military gear and camouflage facepaint.

In a search executed at his home, police found spent bullet casings of the type used in the shooting. 

There is a $75,000.00 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Cpl. Bryon Dickson, 38, of Dunmore, died at the scene. He is survived by his wife, Tiffany, and two young boys.

He was a seven-year veteran. He is the 95th state trooper to be killed in the line of duty since the Pennsylvania State Police was founded in 1905.

Sources say the surviving trooper, Alex T. Douglass, 31, of Olyphant, underwent surgery and is in critical but stable condition at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton.
