T.R. McDaniel

| March 31, 2012

T.R. McDaniel, III, 48, of Franklin, was welcomed into heaven by God and his parents on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 5:23 p.m., after a two-week decline in his health.

T.R. was born December 4, 1963, in Franklin, the son of the late T.R. and Beverly Polter McDaniel.

T.R. was employed as a 911 dispatcher for Venango County and was respected by all the emergency services personnel. He guided Police, Fire, and EMS crews to the scene and kept watch over them until they were all safe and back in service. His professionalism, kindness, and voice will be missed. Prior to his employment for the county, he was employed as a dispatcher for various trucking companies.

He was a 1981 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He was of Presbyterian faith. T.R. had been a member of the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department for the past 32 years, serving as past president, and on the board of Directors and Fire Police.

At one time, T.R. enjoyed playing the saxophone. He was always up for a good chat and debate. Known for his joking manner, he could be quite the comic. T.R. especially enjoyed hanging out by the campfire with friends or watching a good movie. He was well known for being tech savvy and enjoyed fidgeting with the newest of gadgets. He was a man with a big heart whom was liked by all who met him. He will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, and caring soul.

T.R. is survived by his step-daughter, Sable Leddick of South Carolina; his Uncle, William McDaniel and his wife, Anne, of Sugarcreek; his aunts, Betty Whitman and Phyllis Snyder, both of Rockland; and his cousins, William McDaniel, Jr. of Florida, Bonnie Sharrar and her husband, Calvin, Charles McDaniel, John Ghering and his wife, Holly, Donn Ghering, and Charles McDaniel, all of Franklin. He is also survived by his life-long best friend (a.k.a. partner in crime), Mark Baughman and his wife, Shirl, and a close friend, Tammy Reitz.

A Funeral Service for T.R. will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 4 p.m. at the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department, with Rev. Joseph P. Martin, Jr., pastor of Cooperstown United Methodist Church, officiating. This will be followed by a Scotch-Irish wake for family and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be no visitation as per T.R.’s wishes. Interment will be private at the Franklin Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society (PA Division, PO Box 896, Hershey PA 17033-0896), Relay for Life (American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718), or the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department (29 Shuffstall Street, Franklin PA 16323) .
