Ted R. Carson, 89, of Kearney Street, Kane, PA, died Sunday morning, August 12, 2018, at The Lutheran Home at Kane.

Born November 5, 1928, in Clarion, he was the son S. Russell and Beulah B. McMillen Carson. On June 24, 1961, in Kane, he married the former Carol M. Keneske, who survives.

Mr. Carson was a 1946 graduate of Kane Area High School and of the New York State College of Forestry in Syracuse. Afterward, he served in the 980th Field Artillery Battalion in Korea, attaining the rank of Sgt. First Class, and was awarded the Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant.

He worked in the oil fields in the area, first as self-employed then later for 22 years with Minard Run Oil Co. in Bradford, retiring in 1993.

Ted was a member of Tabor Ev. Lutheran Church in Kane, where he served for many years on the usher and Taborite teams. He was a member and past master of Kane Lodge #566 F&AM, the Royal Arch Chapter, and the Coudersport Consistory. A volunteer at the Kane Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels and Angel Food Ministry, he was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are several nieces and nephews, including Jan VanTile. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie L. Dillon, and a brother in infancy.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Tabor Lutheran Church in Kane with the rev. Bill Waterman, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane.
