Teen Arrested After Allegedly Attempting to Burglarize Cranberry Township Church

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin-based State Police, around 3:00 p.m. on October 21, an attempted burglary occurred on State Route 322, at Victory Heights Church, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say a witness called 911 to report 18-year-old Collin Matthew Hansley, of Oil City, was allegedly attempting to forcibly gain access to the storage shed to the rear of the Victory Heights Church.

According to police, Hansley was taken into custody at the scene and was charged with the following offenses:

– Criminal Attempt — Burglary — Not Adapted for Overnight Accommodation, No Person Present, Felony 1
– Criminal Attempt — Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 3
– Criminal Mischief — Damage Property, Summary

Unable to post $5,000.00 bail, he was placed in Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 29 at 8:30 a.m. in Venango County Central Court in front of Magisterial District Judge Douglas I. Dinberg.
