SANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a teen driver lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree along Route 8 in Sandycreek Township on Tuesday evening.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 7:24 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, a 17-year-old Kennerdell female was driving a 2004 Dodge Neon south on State Route 8 just south of Old State Route 8 in Sandycreek Township.

Police say the driver reported that as she was negotiating a right curve, her vehicle began to shake, and when she attempted to bring it to a controlled stop on the left shoulder, she lost control of the vehicle.

According to police, the vehicle then began to rotate clockwise and traveled through a grassy area beside the roadway before traveling over an embankment and striking a tree. It then continued down a hillside and came to a final rest against a tree.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The vehicle was towed by Sugarcreek Towing.
