Teen Rushed to Hospital Following Head-On Collision in Tionesta Township

TIONESTA TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A 19-year-old woman was injured in a head-on accident that happened on Monday morning on State Route 36, in Tionesta Township.

According to Marienville-based State Police, around 10:25 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 19-year-old Yaritza L. Bassett of Levittown, Pa., was driving a 1997 Saturn, traveling south on State Route 36 just south of Ball Hill Road in Tionesta Township, Forest County.

Meanwhile, a 2016 International Harvester merged in the northbound lane of State Route 36, became stuck, and stopped in the northbound lane due to icy road conditions.

Bassett lost control of her vehicle, crossed into the northbound lane, and struck the International Harvester head-on.

Tionesta Ambulance Service transported her to Titusville Hospital for suspected minor injuries.

She was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver and passenger of the International Harvester reported no injuries.

Bassett’s vehicle sustained disabling damage to its front end.

The International Harvester sustained minor damage to its front end.

Bassett was charged with a traffic violation.

Tionesta Volunteer Fire Department and Shambaugh Towing assisted at the scene.
