OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City teen accused of attacking a man with a cane last week has waived his preliminary hearing.

Oil City Police filed the following charges 18-year-old Andrew William Shawgo on September 20 in Venango County District Court:

According to a criminal complaint filed by Patrolman Byham, officers responded to 122 Cowell Avenue around 12:23 a.m. September 20 for a report of a domestic assault.

Police arrived on scene and found a male victim with a small laceration to his temple.

Officers interviewed a female witness at the residence who stated that her brother, Andrew Shawgo, struck the man on the head with a cane.

Shawgo’s mother and the victim stated that Shawgo was “acting strange and became very angry with them.”

The complaint states that Shawgo allegedly smashed a mirror with a cane and then struck the man with the cane while the man was lying in bed.

When Shawgo was taken into custody, police discovered a small bag of marijuana in his pocket and a blue pipe containing suspected marijuana residue in his backpack.

Shawgo waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday in Venango County Central Court.

Online court documents indicate that Shawgo remains lodged in the Venango County Jail on $25,000.00 cash bail.
