MEADVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — According to sources, two Texas brothers have entered guilty pleas in Crawford County Court on charges of coordinating the transportation and distribution of marijuana in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Sources say on November 1, 2012, 29-year-old Marcelino Rodriguez of Eddy, TX, and 29-year-old Miguel Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, TX, pleaded guilty to one count each of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communication device in Crawford County Court of Common Pleas.

This summer, the Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation and PA State Police arrested the Rodriguez brothers and seven others involved in the shipment of drugs to Pennsylvania and the transfer of money back to Texas.

The Rodriguez brothers were allegedly assisted by 29-year-old Robert Karl Conaway (whose address is listed as unknown) in the distribution of marijuana in and around Crawford County.

According to officials, Marcelino Rodriguez and Conaway were arrested in August of 2010 in Crawford County on unrelated warrants, but the two allegedly attempted to continue operating their drug organization from inside the Crawford County jail.

According to court records, Rodriguez and Conaway made numerous recorded telephone calls while inside the jail.

With their guilty pleas, Marcelino Rodriguez now faces up to 12 years in prison and $30,000 in fines, and Miguel Rodriguez faces up 17 years in prison and $45,000 in fines.

Their sentencing is scheduled for December 14, 2012.
