Thomas A. Amsden, 51, of Oil City, died unexpectedly of natural causes, Sunday, November 12, 2017, at his residence.

Born January 8, 1966, in Oil City, he was a son of Margaret M. Rodenbaugh Amsden and the late Richard H. Amsden.

After graduating from Oil City High School, Tom attended Slippery Rock University where he earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology.

He worked as a youth counselor both locally, and in Lancaster, PA.

Tom loved biking on the many trails throughout the county, loved animals, and was a diehard Steelers fan. He was known as an honest friend and loyal caretaker for his mother.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Autumn Amsden of Slippery Rock; two sisters in law, Kim Amsden of Oil City and Pat Amsden of North Haverhill, NH; a nephew, Jarrett Amsden of Noblesville, IN; and two beloved friends, Michael “Klutch” Allison of Erie and Joe Womer of Oil City.

In addition to his father, Tom was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and Michael Amsden, and a nephew Trey Amsden.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Morrison Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 6 pm.

The family requests memorials be made to the Venango County Humane Society at 286 S. Main Street, Seneca, PA 16346.
