Thomas StitzingerThomas E. Stitzinger, 94, a resident of Oil City Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Oil City and formerly of Lamartine passed away Friday at March 24, 2017 at the nursing home.

Born Nov. 24, 1922 in Vandergrift, PA., he was the son of the late John Stitzinger & Myrtle Klingensmith Stitzinger Frankenberger.

Thomas was married on May 5, 1942 in Meadville, PA., to the former Bernice F. Hazlett and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2014.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He retired as Supervisor of Maintenance from Joy Mining Machinery in Franklin in 1983. Thomas enjoyed gardening, researching genealogy, and going to auctions, among other things.

He was a former member of St. Patrick’s Church in Franklin and attended the Nickleville Presbyterain Church.

He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and several fraternal organizations.

Thomas is survived by four children, Polly Mauthe & her husband Walter, Jeanne Haas, Nancy Monrean & her husband Dave, Rev. June Stitzinger-Clark & her husband Donald; 10 Grandchildren, Traci Isbell & her husband Bradford, Mitchell Mauthe, Jessica Kuipers & her husband Thomas, Jason Haas & his wife Tamara, Jeremy Haas, Frederick Hebner III, Thomas Hebner & his wife Tabitha, Clayton Hebner, Carensa Cimino & her husband Frank, Philip Weaver & his wife Natalie; 2 step grandchildren, Jason Clark & his wife Terri and Mary Clark; 23 Great Grandchildren; 4 step great grandchildren; and 1 step great great grandchild also survive.

He is also survived by sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, June Langslow, Harold Hazlett, and Paul & Yvonne Hazlett, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law Dennis Haas, brother Charles Stitzinger, and a step sister Arlene Geary.

Friends will be received from 4-7P.M. Monday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Sue Montgomery, Pastor of the Nickleville Presbyterian Church, Presiding.

Interment will be in Shaw Farm Cemetery.
