Thomas Emanuele, 82, of Oil City died Jan. 24, 2015 at his home.

Born Sept. 12, 1932, in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Antonio & Nunzia Fiocco Emanuele, who had immigrated to the United States from Naso, Sicily, in 1920 and 1929.

He graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1950, thereafter receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Clarion University in 1956, and the degree Master of Arts in French from the Pennsylvania State University.

Mr. Emanuele also completed several courses at Arizona State University at Tempe, Slippery Rock University, and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

He also completed a curriculum leading to certification as a teacher of Spanish at the University of Pittsburgh and Thiel College in Greenville, PA.

His career encompassed the teaching of English and French, and later Spanish, one year at Conneaut Lake, PA. And four years at Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg, PA, and 25 years at Randolph, now Maplewood High School, in Guys Mills, PA. Retiring in 1987.

Mr. Emanuele had traveled extensively during his life throughout the United States and Europe, enjoying especially several trips to his ancestral lands of Italy and Sicily, maintaining family connections there and friendships in Switzerland and Scotland. Also, during his teaching years at Randolph and Maplewood, he organized and led many student summer tours to Quebec
Province and Quebec City in Canada.

He is survived by four brothers, Joseph Emanuele of Rouseville, Anthony Emanuele Jr. of Cherrytree Twp., Louis Emanuele of Oil City, Frank Emanuele of Oil City; four sisters, Josephine McMullen of Oil City, Nancy Ruby of Oil City, Felicia Schwab of Oil City, and Rita Harris of Oil City.

Preceding him in death were his mother on Feb. 2, 1979 and his father on May 21, 1996, and a sister Carmela Heasley and her husband James.

A private visitation and service will be held in the Reinsel Funeral Home with Fr. Matthew Ruyechan, Presiding.
Entombment will be in the Bishop McManaman Memorial Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery.
