Thomas BannerThomas Joseph Banner (Top-40-Tom) passed away on January 20th with his beloved wife Cheryl by his side, after a long, hard-fought battle.

February 26, 1955 – January 20, 2017

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus Henry and Rose Brown Banner, and his dog, Roxy.

He is survived by his dearly loved wife of 27 years, Cheryl Guzan Banner, and his dog Coalbe (aka, LBD) as well as his brothers Steve (Diane Schmader), David and Bob, and brothers’ in-law Paul (Sheryl Hart) Guzan and Robert (Elvira Murphy) Guzan, sister-in–law, Kim Spittler Guzan and many nieces and nephews.

As a graduate of North Clarion High School, Tom excelled in sports, but his true passion was music; he loved performing and composing, and he also had an in-depth knowledge of its history.

In his hometown of Fryburg, PA, he and his brothers formed a band known as ‘The Star Spangled Banners.’

This endeavor was followed by a group of local musicians, ‘Fat Sam,’ which morphed with other talented players into one of Pennsylvania’s most popular bands, ‘Frendz.’

After co-owning a successful outdoor concert promotion company, his love of songwriting eventually inspired his move to Nashville, TN.

No matter where he went, a jam ensued with Tom leading the party through a string of Top-40 hits, and the nickname stuck.

Tom was the face of happiness, fun, friendship and music. We love you Tom; rest in peace, and we will all sing and play together again one day.
