Thomas Michael Smith, 59, of Franklin, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at his Rocky Grove Home.

Tom was born on October 31, 1957, to Wallace “Pete” and Patricia Bell Smith in Franklin.

Tom was a 1975 graduate of Franklin Area High School.

Tom worked as a truck driver for Wal-Mart Transportation from 2006 until the present.

He held other jobs through his life for Franklin Steel, Franklin Industries, and Engles Trucking.

Thomas enjoyed working around the house and maintaining his yard.

Making sure the lawn was well kept, was of his highest priorities. He also loved carpentry and home improvement.

Mr. Smith was an avid reader and history buff. He was very well read in American History, particularly the Civil War.

At one time, he enjoyed hunting and shooting.

Tom was a selfless person and was always focused on his family.

He often said if he could be remembered by one quote it would be ” I always did the best I could with what I have”.

He will forever be remembered by the loving members of his family.

His wife Brenda, who he married on November 12, 1976. His two sons; Anthony M. Smith and his fiance Teneal Caw of Beaver County and Ian M. Smith of Franklin. His mother; Patricia L. Smith, as well as three sisters; Kathryn D., Marjorie A., and Ellen L. Smith, all of Franklin. Many aunts, uncles, nieces nephews, and cousins are also left to cherish his memory.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his father, and a niece; Ginger Smeltzer Wolbert.

Also his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

A visitation will be held at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin PA 16323 on Friday, October 27, 2017, from 2:00-4:00 pm. and 6:00-8:00 pm.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 11:00 am with Richard Cauvel Jr. officiating.

Tom was a patriot and had a strong passion for America.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions are made in Tom’s name to the local V.E.T.S Honor Guard — P.O. Box 137, Franklin, PA 16323.
