Thomas Richard Amsdell, 60, of 11 Johnston Dr. Oil City, PA. died at 6:22 A.M. Monday Oct. 8, 2012 at his residence from an apparent Heart Attack.
Born in Fort. Campbell, KY. On May 10, 1952, he was the son of Barbara Hartle Amsdell and the late Harry V.Amsdell.
Mr. Amsdell was a graduate of Oil City High School.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Oil City.
Tom was married on June 15, 1974 in St. Joseph’s Church to Martha Kay and she survives.
Mr. Amsdell was employed in the Steel Industry at Cytemp (Cyclops) in Titusville and Electralloy in Oil City for over 35 years , before retiring.
He was involved in coaching baseball for Oil City Little League, the Oil City Schools and for Grove City College, and enjoyed interacting with the youth.
Tom was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing with his family and friends for many years.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Amsdell of Oil City; three children, Christine & Greg Knupp and their children Allison, Stephen and Rachel of Pleasantville, Melissa & Shawn Terwilliger and their children Paige, Chloe, Breanna of Oil City, Major Matthew Amsdell & his wife Kelly and their children Lexey and Liley of Colchester, VT; Great Grandchildren, Lucas, Samuel, Max, Jacob Lingo and Aaron Vogus; the following brothers and sisters, Victor & Kathy Amsdell of Perrysburg, OH; Ken & Theresa Amsdell of Cherrytree, PA, Daryl Amsdell of Oil City, Kevin & Linda Amsdell of Phoenix, AZ, Vicky & John DePiore Twinsburg, OH, Brenda & Austin Pevler of Dayton, OH, Mark & Beth Amsdell of Johnstown, PA, Kimberly Amsdell of Oil City, PA.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Lucas Amsdell and a nephew Seth Amsdell.
Friends will be received from 9:30 A.M.-10:30 A.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00A.M. Friday in St. Joseph’s Church with Fr. Justin P. Pino, Presiding.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
