CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Three people with local ties have been charged in connection with a 2017 retail theft scheme in Venango County.

Jolene Nicole Solomon, 34, of Clarion, and Jayme Allen Deitz, 47, of Erie and formerly of Callensburg, are facing one count each of second-degree misdemeanor theft by deception, second-degree misdemeanor receiving stolen property, and summary retail theft.

Levi William Zacheral, 22, of Emlenton, is facing one count each of first-degree misdemeanor receiving stolen property and second-degree misdemeanor theft by deception.

The charges — filed by Franklin-based State Police Tpr. Nicholas Schmader — stem from alleged incidents at Walmart in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

A criminal complaint filed by Tpr. Schmader at Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office indicates that the incidents occurred on September 12, September 24, and October 10.

The criminal complaint states that Deitz entered the store on September 24 and allegedly placed numerous items in a freezer bag. Deitz proceeded to exit the store without paying for the items.

On the same date, Zacheral allegedly filled a grocery cart with several items and exited the store without paying.

Deitz and Zacheral then allegedly gave the stolen merchandise to Solomon and she proceeded to return the items to the store in exchange for a gift card valued at $125.54.

Solomon then allegedly gave the gift card to Deitz who entered the store and purchased cigarettes with it, according to the criminal complaint.

Additionally, on September 21 and October 10, Zacheral entered the store and placed multiple items in a shopping cart. He again proceeded to exit the store without paying for the merchandise, according to the criminal complaint.

A loss prevention officer at Walmart provided photographs of the trio committing the acts.

Zacheral is accused of stealing a total of $298.04 worth of merchandise while Deitz allegedly stole $26.35 worth of merchandise.

All three defendants face preliminary hearings on February 7 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Lowrey.
