FRENCHCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Three Venango County teens were injured in a one-vehicle crash on December 5 in Frenchcreek Township, Venango County.

Franklin-based State Police say the accident happened around 9:35 p.m. when a 17-year-old Franklin male lost control of his vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed on Waterloo Road.

State Police say the teen lost control of his 2008 Ford Fusion while attempting to negotiate a right turn. His vehicle exited the roadway and collided with an embankment before striking and shearing off a utility pole.

The vehicle then rolled down an embankment.

State Police say the driver was wearing a safety belt and escaped unharmed; however, three passengers suffered injuries:

  • Britney Shull, 18, of Franklin — unknown injuries (safety belt used)
  • Timothy Wofford, 19, of Franklin — minor injuries (no safety belt used)
  • 16-year-old Utica male — minor injuries (no safety belt used)

All three passengers were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

The vehicle sustained “heavy and disabling” damage.

The driver was cited for driving too fast.

Utica Volunteer Fire Department and Community Ambulance also assisted at the scene.
