OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — A tip to the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole led to the discovery of a weapons violation and drug paraphernalia at a residence in Oil City.

According to the Oil City Police Department, around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, officers were summoned to a residence on the 600 block of East Second Street in Oil City by agents of the PA Board of Probation and Parole.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the agents and were directed inside the residence to the second-floor area. Once inside, officers were advised that agents had traveled to the residence after receiving information that the resident, 21-year-old Marquel Davughn Jenkins, was in possession of a handgun and controlled substances.

On the second floor in a bedroom area, officers were directed to a black handgun identified as a Hi-Point 9mm semi-automatic, as well as multiple white “stamp bags.”

Officers were directed to $420.00 in cash that was in Jenkins’ possession.

Judge Lowrey issued a search warrant, and the search revealed further pieces of drug paraphernalia including a silver spoon, a ceramic bowl with an unknown white powder residue, and a magazine missing pieces and/or corners. The magazine is indicative of packaging and/or preparing delivery and/or distribution of controlled substances.

Jenkins was arraigned at 11:00 a.m. on February 22 in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on the following charges:

– Possession Of Firearm Prohibited, Felony 1
– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

Unable to post $35,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on February 28 in Venango County Central Court.
