CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Anonymous tipsters helped State Police in Franklin crack a recent retail theft case.

Harold Reed Weaver, 66, of Emlenton, is facing one first-degree misdemeanor count of retail theft.

The charges were filed by Franklin-based State Police Tpr. Siegel on Tuesday at Magisterial District Judge Patrick Lowrey’s office.

Weaver is accused of stealing a snow blower from Cranberry Walmart on December 17.

Police said the value of the snow blower is listed at $788.00.

In a release issued on December 20, police said a male entered the store, removed wire cutters, and exited the store. He then proceeded to cut the wire on the snow blower and push it from the store to the parking lot. Approximately five minutes later two men loaded the snow blower on a truck and fled the scene.

It is believed that the second man was not involved in the crime.

Weaver faces a preliminary hearing on January 31 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Lowrey presiding.
