Venango County Fair Wraps Up Today

| August 12, 2017

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – The finale of the Venango County Fair is set to be a grand one with pet and dog shows, fireman’s water battle, demolition derby, a bonfire and fireworks.

Fair officials have been happy with the way things have been this week.

“Things have gone very well,” Treasurer Rainy Linn said. “The weather has been good and it’s nice seeing families come out and have a good time at the fair.”

Linn said the fair, in its 60th year, had good results at the 4-H livestock auction with good prices and everything was sold.

She also said the vendors were doing well. Crowds have been moderate, ranging from very, very good to “a little slow” at times.

The truck and tractor pulls, as well as the demolition derby, continued to be the most popular. Pigs and horses have been the most popular animal shows, according to Linn.

“We really want to thank the volunteers who help every year at the fair,” Linn said. “Without them, there is no fair. They put in hundreds of hours getting things done. They are a true godsend.”

Linn said fair board Vice President Frank Pan Kratz has already received many suggestions for next year.

“Once we meet in September, we’ll see what we want to do. We always have plenty of ideas to consider,” Linn said.

As for Saturday, the final day, here is a look at what’s happening.

Kicking things off at 9 a.m. are the open pet, 4-H pet and 4-H cat shows at Phillips Arena. The 4-H dog show follows at 10:30 a.m.
