FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Who do we work for in Venango County?

It’s a mixture of government-related jobs and private industry, at least among the top 10 employers in the county.

The Pennsylvania State Government is the largest employer in the county as of the second quarter of 2017 with Venango County ranking No. 4, Oil City School District No. 8 and Franklin School District No. 9. Cranberry School District just misses the Top 10 coming in at No. 11, while the city of Oil City ranks 22nd, the federal government No. 26, the Valley Grove School District No. 34 and the city of Franklin No. 40.

The top private employers as of the second quarter of 2017 were UPMC Northwest (No. 2), Joy Global Underground Mining Inc. (No. 3), Walmart (No. 5), Liberty Electronics (No. 6), Child Development Centers, Inc., a non-profit company, (No. 7) and Matrix Limited (No. 10).
