CLINTONVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Four tractor-trailers and two cars crashed late Sunday night in separate incidents at the end of a construction zone on Interstate 80 East, near mile marker 37, in Clintonville, Venango County.

According to a representative of Venango County 9-1-1, the first accident was called in around 10:55 p.m. for a tractor-trailer that crashed near Exit 35 on I-80. Then, three other tractor-trailers crashed in the same area in separate incidents.

All four tractor-trailers came to a rest in the median between the east and westbound lanes of I-80.

Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department and Emlenton Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

There were no injuries, so Emlenton Ambulance was canceled, according to Venango County 9-1-1.

The roadway was not closed at the time since the tractor trailers were in the median and didn’t block the interstate; however, the roadway was closed for a short period of time on Monday when the vehicles were removed from the scene.

According to Clintonville VFD Chief Gerry Rae, firefighters were called to the scene for two tractor-trailers — which crashed about 1/2 hour apart.

Chief Rae told exploreClarion.com, “The trucks drove off the road right after a construction zone. It looked like there was a parking area in the medial. It is good that no one was hurt.”

After the third tractor-trailer crashed in the median, the scene was cleared.

Shortly afterward, a fourth tractor-trailer and two cars crashed into the median in unrelated incidents.

The series of crashes happened within a period of approximately two hours.
