Tuesday’s Girls’ Hoops: Thompson Helps Short-handed A-C Valley Beat Cranberry

FOXBURG, Pa. (D9Sports) – A-C Valley built a 36-21 second-half lead and then held off a gallant comeback attempt from Cranberry to down the visiting Berries, 48-38.

After falling behind by 15, Cranberry stormed back going on a 15-6 run to get within six, 42-36, with about two minutes to play. But A-C Valley, playing without the injured Olivia Boocks, was able to hold off the comeback attempt.

Ellie Thompson led the Lady Falcons with a game-high 23 points giving her 1,228 in her career just 37 shy of the school record of 1,265 set by Hilary McCall in 2002.

Kylee Eaton chipped in 14 points for A-C Valley with Cami McNany adding nine.

Malliah Schreck paced Cranberry with 13 points with Erin Merryman adding nine.

KEYSTONE 66, CLARION-LIMESTONE 17

KNOX, Pa. – Taylor Geer collected 26 points to lift Keystone to a 66-17 win over visiting Clarion-Limestone.

McKenzie Hovis added 14 points for the Lady Panthers.

Morgan Clark and Anna Kennemuth each scored four points to lead C-L.

SAEGERTOWN 52, FRANKLIN 29

SAEGERTOWN, Pa. – Katelyn Young and Haley Hess each netted 13 points to lift Saegertown to a 52-29 win over visiting Franklin.

Marissa Henry also scored 12 points for the Panthers.

Karlie Hoffman had a game-high 16 points to pace Franklin with Aliseia Baker adding nine points.
