Two Adults, Five Juveniles Rushed to UPMC Northwest Following Rollover Crash on Route 8

SANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say two adults and five juveniles were injured in a rollover crash in Sandycreek Township on Monday.

According to police, around 1:10 a.m. on Monday, November 30, a one-vehicle crash occurred on State Route 8 in Sandycreek Township, Venango County.

Police say 37-year-old Kelly R. Macon, of Oil City, was operating a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, traveling north on Route 8 and negotiating a right curve when she under-compensated for the curve and went off the side of the roadway. The vehicle then traveled over an embankment, rolled over, and came to rest on its side against a tree.

Macon was not using a seat belt. One adult passenger, identified as 18-year-old Kiarra A. Ashby, of Oil City, and two juvenile passengers, an 11-year-old male and a seven-year-old female, were using seat belts. In addition, a six-year-old female passenger and a five-year-old male passenger were fastened in booster seats, and a three-year-old female passenger was fastened in a front-facing child safety seat.

The six-year-old female passenger suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported by Community Ambulance Service to UPMC Northwest and was then sent on to Children’s Hospital.

Macon, Ashby, and the other juvenile passengers all suffered suspected minor injuries and were transported to UPMC Northwest by Community Ambulance Service.

Sandycreek Volunteer Fire Department, Polk Fire Rescue, and Venango Towing also assisted at the scene.

Macon was cited for a traffic violation.
