BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — Two Clarion County residents were killed in a collision on Route 68 in Butler County on Thursday.

Butler-based State Police said the accident happened around 2:00 p.m. on Route 68 near Linwood Drive in Summit Township.

Police said a westbound Chevrolet Impala operated by Jacob Bowser, 19, of East Brady, veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a Dodge Ram driven by James Hipple, 50, of Sligo.

The two men were transported from the scene to Butler Memorial Hospital. Both men were pronounced dead a short time later.

It’s unclear why Bowser veered into oncoming traffic.

The crash remains under investigation.
