Two Face Charges for Theft of Vehicle in Irwin Township

HandcuffsIRWIN TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Charges have been filed and warrants issued for two individuals accused of stealing a vehicle in Irwin Township late last month.

Court documents indicate that on Tuesday, July 10, the Franklin-based State Police filed the following criminal charges in Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office against 49-year-old Peter Delboverlando II, of Ellwood City, and 35-year-old Laura Lee McGaughey, of Jackson Center:

  • Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 2
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 2
  • Unauthorized Use Motor/Other Vehicles, Misdemeanor 2
  • Driving Unregistered Vehicle, Summary
  • Driving While Operator Privilege Suspended Or Revoked, Summary
  • Operating Vehicle Without Required Financial Responsibility, Summary

According to a criminal complaint, around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, June 25, Peter Delboverlando and Laura Lee McGaughey took the victim’s 1998 Ford Windstar van with the permission of the victim to go to the hospital.

The victim checked the hospitals in the surrounding area after the vehicle was not returned, and neither McGaughey nor Delboverlando had been to them.

According to the complaint, the vehicle was found abandoned and recovered on Sunday, July 1, in North Lima, Ohio, by Beaver Township Police Department in Ohio.

Based on the investigation, warrants were issued for Delboverlando and McGaughey’s arrest.

As of late Monday morning, the defendants had not been taken into custody.
