FOREST CO., Pa. (EYT) — Two Forest County roads will be closed soon due to bridge and drainage work later this month.

Both projects are scheduled to begin on Monday, May 15.

One is a project to replace and widen the deck on a bridge that carries German Hill Road (Route 4004) over a branch of Ross Run in Kingsley Township.

The 21-foot-long bridge is located on German Hill Road, near the intersection with Crystal Springs Road and about two miles south of the intersection with Route 666.

The bridge was built in 1948 and rehabilitated in 1986. About 130 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.

Employees of PennDOT’s Forest County Maintenance Office will replace the bridge deck.

The rehabilitation project is expected to be completed in mid-to-late June.

A detour will be required during the construction. The posted detour will use Route 666, Route 62, and Little Hickory Road (Route 3004.)

The other project is for drainage pipe replacement on a section of Nebraska Road (Route 3004) in Green Township.

The road is expected to be closed from May 15 to June 23 from the Nebraska Bridge to German Hill Road.

Detours will be posted.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions, and to pay attention to signs and flaggers.

Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
