Two Franklin Teens Thrown from ATV’s in Sandycreek Township Collision

SANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a two-vehicle crash occurred yesterday afternoon on Brown Siding Road, south of Congress Hill Road, in Sandycreek Township, Venango County.

According to police, around 4:04 p.m. on July 23, a 14-year-old Franklin female, operating a 2000 Scrambler ATV, and a 15-year-old Franklin male, operating a 2003 Bombardier ATV, were riding together and traveling towards each other on Brown Siding Road. Both ATV’s were traveling in the middle of the roadway, and the operators “attempted an avoidance maneuver in the middle of the road but impacted each other head-on.”

Both teens were thrown from the ATV’s after the collision. The 14-year-old female was thrown approximately 60 feet where she ended up landing in the north side berm of Brown Siding Road. The 15-year-old male was thrown approximately 40 feet where he ended up landing in the south side ditch on Brown Siding Road, police say.

Both operators were wearing protective helmets.

Community Ambulance Service transported both teens to UPMC Northwest for suspected minor injuries.

Both operators were charged with traffic violations.

Sandycreek Volunteer Fire Department Personnel assisted at the scene.
