VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) – Two Venango County residents facing charges in connection with a high-speed chase and an overdose incident were held for court Wednesday.

According to court documents, Alexis Renee Kelly, 19, of Venus, and Christopher Ahrens, 42, of Oil City, were both held for court on charges related to a June 8 high-speed chase in Franklin.

Kelly was held for court on the following charges:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony (two counts)
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
– Possession of a Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor
– Marijuana-Small Amt Personal Use, Misdemeanor (two counts)
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor (eight counts)

Ahrens was held for court on the following charges:

– Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officer, Felony 3
– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– DUI: Controlled Substance — Schedule 1 — 1st Offense, Misdemeanor
– Intentional Possession of Controlled Substance by Person Not Registered
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
– Possession Of Marijuana, Misdemeanor
– Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary
– Exceed Max Speed Limit Established By 75 MPH
– Driving Without A License, Summary
– Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Property, Felony 3
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2

Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland presided over the hearings.

Ahrens remains lodged in the Venango County Jail on $50,000.00 cash bail.

Kelly, also lodged in the Venango County Jail, is being held on $25,000.00 cash bail in a separate drug-related case connected to a June 11, 2018, incident. She faces a preliminary hearing in that case on July 18.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 3:05 a.m. on June 8, Patrolman Floor, of the Franklin Police Department, witnessed a black Ford station wagon cross the center line in the 200 block of 13th Street.

Patrolman Floor attempted to conduct a traffic stop, and the vehicle’s turn signal was initiated. The vehicle was pulling over in the 300 block of Grant Street when the driver turned off the turn signal and accelerated rapidly.

The driver, later identified as Christopher Ahrens, traveled at speeds in excess of 110 miles per hour traveling westbound on U.S. 322. Officers were able to stop the vehicle and end the pursuit in the area of 21800 U.S. 322, Meadville, the complaint states.

Officers then made contact and ordered Ahrens and his passenger, Alexis Kelly, out of the vehicle.

According to the complaint, once Ahrens and Kelly were detained, Patrolman Floor noted a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and was able to see a small amount of marijuana on the center console, as well as two syringes on the passenger floorboard. Outward signs of intoxication of a controlled substance from Ahrens was also observed, according to the complaint.

Another criminal complaint was filed against Kelly on Tuesday, June 12.

The complaint states that around 11:59 p.m. on Monday, June 11, Oil City Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on Martin Street in Oil City for an EMS Delta response for a 22-year-old female — a possible overdose.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers made contact with the known homeowner who directed them to the stairs and stated, “She’s upstairs. I don’t know what she took. I was asleep and heard a bunch of thumping around.”

According to the complaint, upon reaching the top of the stairs, the officers made contact with a known male, who was holding up a known female who was unresponsive and vomiting.

Another female, identified as Alexis Kelly, was also in the room.

As medical personnel arrived at the scene and began treating the patient, Kelly and the known male were asked what the patient had taken.

According to the complaint, Kelly stated that she thought it was meth, but she was not sure. Kelly stated that the victim “shot up” the meth. Patrolman Karns then asked Kelly if she helped the woman, and Kelly allegedly said that she did, the complaint states.

The woman was attended to and transported by Community Ambulance Service.

According to the complaint, officers also recovered two loaded syringes, the syringe used in the overdose, a spoon with residue, a fold of paper commonly used to package street drugs, a white iPhone, and two pipes, one of them containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana.
