CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 157 in Cranberry Township early Thursday afternoon.

According to police, around 12:22 p.m., David E. Smith, 59, of Tionesta was operating a 2007 GM Sierra, attempting to cross State Route 157 from Horsecreek Road in Cranberry Township.

Police say Smith failed to observe a 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, operated by Chad M. Bowler, 31, of Cranberry, traveling east on State Route 157 and pulled out into the path of the vehicle. Bowler was unable to stop and the front of his vehicle struck the passenger side of Smith’s vehicle.

Following impact, both vehicles traveled in a southwest direction with Bowler’s vehicle forcing Smith’s vehicle into a guide rail on the south side of the roadway.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and both suffered suspected minor injuries but refused transport.

Smith was cited for a stop sign violation.
