FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin Police say two local men were seriously injured following a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Monday afternoon in the City of Franklin, Venango County.

According to the Franklin Police Department, around 2:09 p.m., Kirk Tomlinson, 50, of Franklin, was driving a Ford Fusion south on 14th Street approaching the intersection of Elk Street. A second vehicle, a Jeep Liberty driven by Ronald Pastilock, 63, of Oil City, was headed west on Elk Street when it failed to yield the right of way to Tomlinson.

Pastilock drove into the path of the Ford. As a result, the Ford struck the Jeep in the driver’s side rear passenger door, causing the door to open. The back seat passenger — Richard King, 51, of Franklin — was ejected from the vehicle.

The Jeep then struck a utility pole.

Tomlinson and King suffered severe injuries and were flown by Stat Medevac helicopter to UPMC Hamot in Erie. They are reported to be in stable condition.

Another passenger in the Jeep Liberty, who was not named, was taken to UPMC Northwest in Seneca for minor injuries and was released.

It is unknown whether Pastilock was injured.

Franklin Fire Department and Community Ambulance Service assisted police at the scene.
