OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — Two men are facing drug charges following a search warrant executed on Hoffman Avenue in Oil City on Thursday morning.

Court documents indicate the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 28-year-old David Samual Adams, of Oil City, and 24-year-old Christopher Steven Bain, of Erie.

According to a criminal complaint, around 7:00 a.m., on Thursday, March 8, Oil City Police Officers were assisting another law enforcement agency with the execution of a search warrant at a residence on the 400 block of Hoffman Avenue. While at the location, a gray Toyota Scion coupe owned by a known man arrived at the location. Three men were in the vehicle, one of which was believed to be a man wanted on outstanding warrants. All three men were removed from the vehicle and identified as David Adams, Christopher Bain, and the known driver.

Chief Wenner and the other officers spoke with the known owner/driver of the vehicle and consent was given for a search of the vehicle. Chief Wenner found a black briefcase located inside a backpack in the vehicle. The briefcase contained crystal methamphetamine in small plastic sandwich baggies, along with digital scales, the complaint states.

A search of Adams revealed an additional small zip lock style plastic baggie with “420” printed on it. The baggie only contained the residue of an unknown substance, the complaint indicates.

All three men were then taken into custody based on Conspiracy of Possession with Intent to Deliver Crystal Methamphetamine and transported to the Oil City Police Department, according to the complaint.

An interview was conducted with the owner of the vehicle. He stated that Adams, along with Bain — who he did not know — showed up at his house for a ride to the Hoffman Avenue residence. He said he was awakened by Adams. Upon getting dressed and traveling to his vehicle, Adams and Bain were already inside the vehicle. He said he was unaware of any controlled substances inside the vehicle and did not know about the briefcase inside the backpack. He did not observe either Adams or Bain in possession of the backpack or the briefcase, according to the complaint.

Adams and Bain were arraigned at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, at Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey’s office on the following charges:

– Conspiracy — Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor

Unable to post $75,000.00 monetary bail each, both men were lodged in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14, with Judge Lowrey presiding.
