MERCER COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) — According to State Police, two Mercer County teens were injured in a high speed SUV crash.

Police say 18-year-old Derek Lee Richael of Stoneboro, Mercer Co., Pa., was speeding at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning on Irish Ridge Road when his sports utility vehicle hit an embankment and flipped onto its hood beyond the intersection of Borland Road.

According to police, Richael suffered serious neck, back, and head injuries; he was not wearing a seat belt.

Police say a juvenile passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, had minor injuries; both teens were taken to UPMC Horizon, Greenville, Pa.
