Two Women Accused of Retail Theft Scam in Cranberry Township

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin-based State Police, incidents of retail theft occurred at Walmart in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say 23-year-old Ashley Dawn Shilala, of DuBois, and 20-year-old Alyssa Renee Fetterman, of Brookville, were involved in the case.

According to police, Shilala allegedly entered Walmart on April 21, selected two items, and placed them into a Walmart bag from a previous purchase that she made in the store.

Police say Shilala allegedly walked out of Walmart without paying for the items and then allegedly returned approximately eight hours later and returned the two stolen items, without a receipt, in exchange for a gift card of $42.36.

According to police, Fetterman allegedly entered Walmart on April 21, selected seven items, placed them into a purse, and left Walmart without paying for the items.

Approximately 15 minutes later, Shilala entered Walmart and returned the seven stolen items, without a receipt, in exchanged for a gift card of $116.28, police say.

The incidents occurred sometime between 6:21 p.m. on April 21 and 3:43 p.m. on April 22.

Charges of Retail Theft and Theft by Deception are pending.
