Two Women Sent to Hospital After Tractor Trailer Slides on Snow-Covered Route 8 and Crashes into Oncoming Traffic

CHERRYTREE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Two women were sent to an area hospital after a tractor trailer lost control on a snow-covered Route 8 and crashed into oncoming traffic.

Franklin-based State Police said the accident happened around 9:49 p.m. on State Route 8 just east of Cherrytree Road.

According to police, Harold W. Young, Jr., 44, of Hickory, Kentucky, was traveling south in a 2015 tractor trailer.

Two vehicles involved in the accident were traveling north – a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo driven by Elizabeth M. Farias-Mock, 57, of Oil City, and a 2007 Kia Optima operated by Krystal L. Gates, 33, of Titusville.

Police said Young’s trailer slid into the northbound lane where it struck both vehicles.

Young was not injured.

Farias-Mock and Gates were transported to Titusville Hospital by Emergycare ambulance for treatment of unknown injuries.

Cherrytree Twp. VFD and Sugarcreek Towing assisted at the scene.
