Rehabilitation to Begin on Front Street Bridge In Sugarcreek Borough

OIL CITY, Pa. – Rehabilitation work that will add decades to the service life of a bridge on Front Street (4002) in the Rocky Grove area of Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County, is expected to begin on Monday, June 1, 2015.

The bridge over Galloway Run is located on Front Street in Rocky Grove, between the intersections with Route 8/62 and Route 417.

The 16-foot-long concrete slab bridge was built in 1950 and carries approximately 7,014 vehicles a day, on average. The bridge is currently classified as functionally obsolete.

Employees from PennDOT’s Venango County Maintenance Unit will perform the work, which will rehabilitate and waterproof the bridge deck.

The project is expected start Monday and take approximately four weeks to complete, weather permitting.

A detour will be required during construction, with Front Street closed to through traffic between Route 62 and Route 417.

The posted detour will use Route 8/62, Route 322, and Route 417.
