OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man who allegedly bit a police officer is facing a laundry list of charges.
According to court documents, the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 42-year-old Todd Schneider, of Oil City in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on January 25.
He was arraigned on the following charges:
- Aggravated Assault, Felony 1 (three counts)
- Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 1 (six counts)
- Harassment — Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary (two counts)
- Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting, Misdemeanor 3
- Resisting Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
- Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor
- Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor (two counts)
Details of the Case
Around 4:00 p.m. on January 24, Oil City Police Officers were dispatched to 19 Colbert Avenue to assist MHMR.
According to the complaint, “Todd Schneider answered the door and began to talk nonsense and told (Officer Love) to take off his gun. Suddenly Schneider attempted to shut the door, and (Officer Love) stuck his foot in the doorway to keep it from closing.”
The complaint states that once inside, Schneider was told to have a seat in a nearby chair. He refused and allegedly jabbed Officer Love in the chest. Officer Love grabbed Schneider by the arm and placed him in the chair as he continued to resist. He was warned to stop resisting several times. A taser was deployed in an attempt to gain more control, and two deployments were ineffective.
Schneider continued to resist; however, Officer Love was able to get him handcuffed. Although handcuffed, he kept trying to get away. Officer Love held him until several officers arrived to assist. Even so, Schneider continued to resist. He attempted to bite one officer and succeeded in biting another, according to the complaint.
