UPDATE: Police Investigation Continues After Two Transported to Pittsburgh Following Clarion Borough Assault

CLARION BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Clarion Borough Police are investigating an assault that occurred Saturday night in the borough.

Clarion Borough Police Chief William V. Peck, IV, confirmed to exploreClarion.com that an assault occurred at 246 West Main Street; however, few details are being released as investigators continue to piece together the details.

“Further details will be released at the appropriate time,” said Chief Peck.

According to a Clarion County 911 dispatcher, the call came in at 8:39 p.m.

Clarion Borough Police, Clarion-based State Police, Clarion University Police, Clarion Hospital EMS, and Shippenville-Elk Township Ambulance were called to the scene. Clarion Fire and Hose Company No. 1 was also called for assistance.

Sources say two people who were injured in the incident were transported to Pittsburgh-area hospital(s) for treatment.

Their current conditions are unknown at this time; however, no fatalities had occurred as of early Sunday morning.

STAT MedEvac landed at Clarion University Memorial Stadium and transported one of the patients, according to Clarion County 911. The other person was transported by unknown means.

Shortly after authorities arrived on the scene, the area surrounding the residence was sectioned off with crime-scene tape.

Investigators remained at the crime scene until around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.

No charges have been filed in connection with the incident as of 9:00 a.m.

Authorities say further information is expected to be released later today.

Clarion Borough Police is conducting the investigation with the assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police.
