OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — A 47-year-old Oil City man has been arrested on drug related charges stemming from another case involving a 32-year-old Oil City man who is awaiting a court decision for the alleged operation of a meth lab.

According to court documents, on February 9, Oil City Police filed criminal charges against 47-year-old Kevin Michael O’Brien, of Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, on January 6, 2016, while assisting State Parole Agency with a case, Oil City Police Officers seized a cell phone. Officers requested a search warrant for the seized phone. Upon the execution of the warrant, a text message was located between Nathan Brown and Kevin Michael O’Brien about acquiring Sudafed for the purpose of manufacturing Methamphethamine. Officers then spoke again with Brown who confirmed that he planned to manufacture meth with O’Brien if O’Brien purchased the Sudafed.

The complaint states that Officer Larry Drake, of the Oil City Police Department, then made contact with Cranberry Walmart and viewed security footage that showed O’Brien purchasing the Sudafed in correlation with the text messages.

Based on his investigation, Officer Drake requested an arrest warrant be issued for O’Brien on February 9.

According to the complaint, O’Brien absconded from Turning Point Rehabilitation inpatient treatment program on February 8 after being placed there by State Parole.

O’Brien faces a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish on the following charges:
