Boys’ Hoops Recaps: Franklin Tops Rocky Grove with Strong Second Half

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin outscored visiting Rocky Grove by 26 points in the second half to pull away with a 79-50 win over the Orioles in the opening round of the Dick Russell Memorial/Franklin Eagles Club.

The Knights led 30-27 at halftime but outpaced the Orioles 49-23 in the second to secure an easy victory.

Tyus Wood led Franklin with 22 points, Dalton Buckley added 18 and Kaden Keely 12.

Isaac Clayton paced Rocky Grove with 12 points while Eli Dickson added nine and Scott Perry eight.

NORTH CLARION 80, A-C VALLEY 67

TIONESTA, Pa. — Kyle Mills scored a career-high 30 points and hauled down eight rebounds to lead North Clarion past A-C Valley, 80-67, on the second day of the Forest Area Christmas Classic at West Forest.

Tyler McCord-Wolbert added 14 points for the unbeaten Wolves with Logan Minich chipping in 12 points and seven assists, Korey Mills nine points and five helpers and Sam Minich five points and five assists.

Levi Orton netted a game-high 33 points, his second straight 30-point game, and 10 rebounds to pace A-C Valley. Eddie Stevanus chipped in 14 points.

REDBANK VALLEY 79, FOREST AREA 40

TIONESTA, Pa. — Freshman Chris Marshall scored 24 points to lead Redbank Valley to a 79-40 win over Forest Area on the second day of the Forest Area Christmas Classic at West Forest

Tanner Kerle added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, Declan Fricko chipped in 15 points, Nick Smith scored 14 points and Bryson Bain had two points and 10 assists.

Aiden Quinn led Forest Area with 15 points with Luke Cussins adding eight.

MONITEAU 52, MERCER 41

MERCER, Pa. — Behind three fourth-quarter 3-pointers from Gage Neal, Moniteau nailed five triples in the quarter to pull away from Mercer for a 52-41 win in the consolation game of the Mercer Shootout.

The Warriors led by just a point, 33-32, going to the fourth quarter but got hot from the outside to gain separation.

Nate Tack hit the other two threes in the frame for Moniteau, who had hit just one triple through the first three quarters.

Neal led the Warriors with 13 points with Jared Lomenski adding nine and Tack eight.

SAEGERTOWN 50, VENANGO CATHOLIC 38

RIMERSBURG, Pa. — A 21-point effort from Max Fuller helped Saegertown beat Venango Catholic, 50-38, in the consolation game of the Union Christmas Tournament.

Eli Drua added nine points and Raef Rhoades eight in the win.

Andrew Burda led Venango Catholic with 12 points, Ben Gillispie added 11 and Parker Slagle nine.
