UPMC Northwest to Honor Cancer Survivors in August

SENECA, Pa. – UPMC Northwest and the Northwest Hospital Foundation are sponsoring a picnic on Wednesday, August 8 for all cancer survivors and their families in conjunction with Cancer Awareness Week. Commemorative ornaments are for sale and can be purchased in memory of or in honor of a loved one who is fighting or has fought a battle with cancer.

“We’d like to invite all cancer survivors and their loved ones to celebrate life and join us for food, entertainment and our 16th annual commemorative ceremony,” UPMC Northwest President Brian Durniok said. The picnic and ceremony will be held at the UPMC Northwest Pavilion at 100 Fairfield Drive in Seneca beginning at 4 p.m. on August 8.

Ornaments, which will include the current year, are $7 each and include an ornament card with the honorees name printed on the card. The Wendell August commemorative ornaments can be ordered by completing a form which can be picked up at the UPMC CancerCenter at UPMC Northwest, or by calling 814-677-1463or 814-676-7992. Orders must be received by July 16.

Reservations for the picnic can be made by calling the UPMC Northwest Community Relations Department at 814-677-1463. The registration deadline for the event is August 3.
