SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin-based State Police a Utica man was seriously injured this morning in a one-vehicle crash on State Route 322, 951 feet south of Pine Road, in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County.

Police say around 1:51 a.m. on January 31, 37-year-old Jeffery A. Fry, of Utica, was traveling west on SR 322 and was approaching the intersection of Pine Street.

He encountered a left hand curve in the roadway and lost control of his 2004 Chevrolet 2500 pickup, according to police.

The vehicle exited the north side of the roadway and impacted a ditch with its undercarriage and continued to travel west and then impacted an embankment with its right front end. The pickup then re-entered the roadway and began sliding sideways and rotated at least 405 degrees counter-clockwise while crossing over the westbound lane center line and eastbound lane, police say.

The vehicle’s right front end impacted a guide rail and came to rest in contact with the guide rail facing approximately southeast.

Fry was not using a seat belt and suffered major injuries.

Community Ambulance transported him to UPMC Northwest, Seneca.

Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
