Valentine V. Socha 85 of 908 Walnut St. Reno, PA. Passed away at 12:35 P.M. Thursday afternoon Sept. 7, 2017, at the Caring Place in Franklin.

Born in Oil City, Pa. On Feb. 14, 1932, to the late Joseph and Mary Niemiec Socha.

Growing up on Union Street, He attended the Assumption BVM Grade School and graduated from Oil City Senior High School.

Mr. Socha served as a Sgt. (T) in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954

Val worked for the Continental Can Co. in Oil City for 43 years.

He was a member of St. Stephens Church in Oil City since 1956.

Mr. Socha enjoyed watching sports especially baseball and football and bowled at the Pulaski Club and at the Seneca Lanes. He also golfed for many years with the Senior League at Sleepy Hollow Golf Course.
He married the former Joan M. Sires in Franklin on Aug. 18, 1956, and she survives along with five children and their spouses and family.

He was preceded in death by a sister Caroline Ross and by brothers Joseph, Michael, Frank, John, Anthony, Vincent and Stanley Socha, his twin.

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday in the Reinsel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. at St. Stephens Church with Fr. John Miller, the pastor presiding.

Internment will follow in Calvary Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
