CORNPLANTER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a one-vehicle crash occurred on Wednesday afternoon along Route 8 in Cornplanter Township.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 37-year-old Dana A. Sunderlin, of Oil City, was operating a 2009 Subaru Legacy, traveling south on State Route 8, just south of Rynd Hill Road in Cornplanter Township, Venango County.

Police say Sunderlin’s vehicle lost traction on the roadway and slid off the right side of the road, then struck the concrete wall of a bridge that crosses over Oil Creek. After striking the wall, the vehicle crossed back over both lanes of traffic and struck a guide rail along the left side of the roadway. It then continued off the left side of the road, struck two mailboxes, and came to a final rest.

Sunderlin was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Shambaugh Towing assisted at the scene.
